The Ergonomic Personal Washing System is being developed for older adults and people affected by obesity, injury, weakness, reduced flexibility or limited movement who may struggle to wash their back and lower body independently.

The concept uses a single rear support shaft with a washing brush that moves vertically along a guided rail. The user operates the system from the front, reducing the need to reach behind the body, twist the torso, bend deeply or lift the arms.

The Opportunity

Conventional long-handled brushes still require considerable reaching, twisting and shoulder movement. For many older adults, people with obesity, injured users or those with restricted mobility, these products do not fully solve the problem.

Difficulty washing independently can affect personal dignity, confidence and quality of life.

The Ergonomic Personal Washing System is intended to provide a more controlled and accessible solution, helping users clean difficult-to-reach areas while keeping their hands and controls in front of the body.
