Ergonomic Personal Washing System
Independent Washing with Less Reaching, Bending and Arm Movement
The Ergonomic Personal Washing System is being developed for older adults and people affected by obesity, injury, weakness, reduced flexibility or limited movement who may struggle to wash their back and lower body independently.
The concept uses a single rear support shaft with a washing brush that moves vertically along a guided rail. The user operates the system from the front, reducing the need to reach behind the body, twist the torso, bend deeply or lift the arms.
Key Advantages
Front-operated washing system
Reduced shoulder, arm and torso movement
Helps users reach the back and lower body
Suitable for people with limited mobility or flexibility
May reduce dependence on caregivers or family members
Guided brush movement for more controlled washing
Adjustable positioning for different body sizes
Potential for interchangeable back, body and foot attachments
The Opportunity
Conventional long-handled brushes still require considerable reaching, twisting and shoulder movement. For many older adults, people with obesity, injured users or those with restricted mobility, these products do not fully solve the problem.
Difficulty washing independently can affect personal dignity, confidence and quality of life.
The Ergonomic Personal Washing System is intended to provide a more controlled and accessible solution, helping users clean difficult-to-reach areas while keeping their hands and controls in front of the body.
ProcurMan Development Focus
Current development priorities include:
A stable single-shaft support structure
A vertically guided brush rail
Smooth and controlled up-and-down movement
Reduced physical effort and arm elevation
Adjustable height and positioning
Interchangeable washing attachments
Water-resistant and easy-to-clean materials
Safer use in wet bathroom environments
Possible seated and standing configurations
Back, lower-body and foot-washing options
Protection of the underlying concept and related intellectual property
The system is currently in development. A patent application has already been filed for related technology, and further protection may be pursued as the design is refined.
Positioning Statement
Less Reaching. Less Strain. Greater Independence
